About

Depressed Metabolism is a blog about the science of personal survival. We report and analyze longevity science  with, we hope, minimal concessions to wishful thinking. The strong  emphasis on cryonics reflects our belief that human cryopreservation should be the cornerstone in the quest to avoid oblivion.

The guiding philosophy on Depressed Metabolism is one of  empiricism.  See our post on five important books on empiricist philosophy.

Since we started writing about cryonics in September 2007,  we have also published on other topics such as aging, life extension, health, neuroscience, economics, ethics, political philosophy, art, travel and developments in science and society pertinent to these topics.

Authors include Aschwin de Wolf, Chana de Wolf, and guest contributors who share a personal interest in disseminating information about the science of personal survival.
